Motor Home and The Lemon Laws

Lemon laws are protecting car owners from a raw deal. If a brand new car has a defect, that came with it, chances are that the law protects the consumer. When it comes to motor homes the law is less evolved and you must research it by the state.
Each of the 50 states has it's own perspective and set of laws. Do not assume that the law will protect you. Be diligent and find out for your self what is covered in the lemon laws of your state.

You may want to seek the advice of a lawyer. The law may have definition that a layman may interpret wrong. The language of the law can seem obscure, and you might want to have an interpreter that speak it fluently ( an attorney ). States such as Virginia, Wyoming, Oregon, Maine and Minnesota have general laws that are harder for a layman to interpret.

While some states's lemon laws regarding motor homes are obscure there are those who took more specific legislation.
Florida's law covers new vehicles bought or leased. The motor home must be for personal or private use and does not include any vehicles less than four wheels. It also doesn't include any vehicles ridden off road.
California laws do not recognize ridden off vehicles and any other vehicles that drives with more or less than four wheels. Motor home chasis are recognized and covered by the California law. The body, however, is not covered.

Texas, has the most liberal lemon laws in the United States. All new vehicles are recognized in Texas laws, no matter their classifications or number of wheels. The only demand the law has on that case in that the car must be new. No used cars are considered.
New Hampshire, New Mexico and North Carolina are also considered liberal states regarding their interpretation and implication of lemon laws.

Some states cover new cars, vans, and trucks in their lemon laws. There are those who condition recreational vehicles, motor homes and motorcycles.

Motor home are very popular and offers the traveler a home away from home. They are very popular amongst the adventures elderly as well as the young folks that are touring the land.
Don't let lemon laws ignorance put you in a tight spot. Know your lemon law. Know your state lemon law. Don't be afraid to voice your claim if you think it is just. Find out if the law is on your side.
