Lemon laws vs. Warranties

Lemon laws were established to help protect the consumer against the purchase of a bad product.
If you are looking to buy a car in a dealership, you have some laws that protect you.
once the seller says that the car works fine, he or she is bound to those words.
If you drive the car, straight out of that dealership, and it brakes down on the way home,
chances are that the car was not in good shape to begin with. You were sold a lemon!!!
Most of the States have lemon laws that protect the consumer, yet they are not identical in all the 50 states.
 
Lemon laws will only apply in certain circumstances.
The defect in a new car must be a single defect that causes repeated problems. If a car has a few problems that happen sporadically, it will not be considered a lemon under the lemon law.
Most states demand that a few tries to fix the car would be performed before the car would be declared a lemon. Many states require this attempt of fixing to take place during the warranty period.
One must realize that the party responsible for the fixing of the defect in a lemon car is the manufacture. The dealer is responsible to take in the car but the fixing itself MUST be by the manufacturer. Compensation ruling may vary between states and the considerations may vary as well.

It is important to know though that lemon laws issues are small time change compare to wear and tare.
Most defects in a car are not lemon law related. For this maters one must purchase a warranty. There are different kinds of warranty and they carry different coverage. Warranties can be bought at a dealership or with company that make warranties their business.
 
Warranties vary by coverage. Some include labor some parts and some include both. There are small prints that need to be read and studied before making a decision. Notice if there is any deductible in the plan they offer you.
Don't trust the sales person. A sales person does not necessary have your best interest in mind. Know your budget and needs and research the warranties.
